Pro Football Focus (PFF), a subscription-based analytics service that supplies data to the National Football League (NFL), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and Canadian Football League (CFL) teams, has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) – a subsidiary of Amazon (NasdaqGS:AMZN) – as its official cloud and machine learning provider. PFF will leverage AWS services to “improve operational efficiency, innovate at a faster pace, and drive deeper meaning from game statistical data”. Cris Collinsworth, sports commentator, former NFL player, and majority owner of Pro Football Focus, explained:

“We have chosen to use AWS’s unmatched breadth of functionality to innovate at scale, and are using services like Amazon SageMaker to help us build, train, and deploy machine learning models so that we can generate predictions and deliver insights faster to teams and broadcast partners such as NBC’s Sunday Night Football. We are confident that AWS will give us what we need to innovate on the fly, pinpoint new stats, and accelerate the delivery of those stats to our audience.”

Video telematics, analytics, productivity and safety solutions provider Ltyx has been accepted to participate in the Qualcomm (NasdaqGS:QCOM) Smart Cities Accelerator Program. Launched by the latter’s subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., the Accelerator Program connects “cities, municipalities, government agencies and enterprises with an ecosystem of providers offering Qualcomm Technologies' technology-based solutions tailored for smart cities applications”. Sanjeet Pandit, senior director, business development and head of smart cities, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., commented:

"Lytx is at the helm of innovation in video telematics-based safety and fleet management solutions. Their data leadership and expertise in deploying machine vision and artificial intelligence solutions for so many public and private-sector fleets make the company an ideal partner for Qualcomm's Smart Cities Accelerator Program. We are thrilled to have Lytx onboard to help drive the future of fleet safety, tracking and management for smart cities around the world."
