Accenture (NYSE:ACN) has agreed to acquire Germany-based engineering consulting
and services firm umlaut. According to the press release, this “will
significantly scale Accenture’s deep engineering capabilities to help companies
use digital technologies like cloud, artificial intelligence, and 5G to
transform how they design, engineer and manufacture their products as well as
embed sustainability.” Accenture CEO Julie Sweet said:
"We
predicted that digital would ultimately be applied at scale to the core of a
company’s business – the design, engineering and manufacturing of their
products. And, for nearly a decade Accenture has been building the unique
capabilities and ecosystem partnerships to combine the power of digital with
traditional engineering services. COVID-19 has accelerated the need for
companies to transform these core operations, and umlaut’s leading and
highly-specialized engineering services will enhance our ability to meet the
accelerating demand and also continue innovating for our clients."
Simulation, high-performance computing (HPC), and
artificial intelligence solutions provider Altair Engineering Inc. (NasdaqGS:ALTR) has announced the release of Altair SmartWorks,
its next-generation, cloud-native platform to empower augmented, data-driven
decision making. SmartWorks leverages AI, analytics, and IoT to “ensure
production quality, develop connected product lines, optimize maintenance
schedules, and implement recurring revenue models.” The company’s Founder and
CEO James R. Scapa said:
"SmartWorks
will disrupt the way businesses innovate and make decisions by making it easy
to leverage AI and IoT in automation and analytics. For organizations
strategizing their digital transformation efforts, SmartWorks is a future-proof

NLP Market to Reach $127.26B in 2028
A report published by Fortune Business Insights finds that the
global Natural Language Processing market will grow from $20.98 billion in 2020
to $127.26 billion in 2028 with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 29.4
