Cody Willard,
Chairman of Scutify, also Shares Thoughts on GoPro (GPRO) IPO
New
York NY- Point Roberts, WA – January 15, 2014 – (www.investorideas.com newswire)
Investorideas.com, a global news source covering leading sectors issues a
recent Q&A interview with Mr. Cody Willard, Chairman of Scutify Financial Network,
discussing the IPO market for 2015.
Q: Investorideas.com
We
have seen a new trend in the past year or so that some of the tech IPO’s have
surprised the market with listing NYSE versus the expected NASDAQ market; can
you comment on that and what you are seeing and why?
A: Cody Willard,
Chairman of Scutify
In
a digital age, the NYSE and NASDAQ both operate in much the same way these
days. MSFT and CSCO and the days of NASDAQ being the tech-centric exchange are
over forever.
Q: Investorideas.com
In
terms of GoPro (GPRO),
do you think the product hype ran ahead of the company? Is that what you are
seeing in the stock or something different?
A: Cody Willard,
Chairman of Scutify
GoPro’s
(GPRO) biggest
problem is that it's basically a commodity camera vendor. Since it went public,
I've too become concerned about the coming China-based competitors killing
GoPro’ s margins and I think the markets are coming to terms with the fact that
a low profit future as a possibility.
Q: Investorideas.com
In
some of the hot IPO’s in the tech sector like GoPro, do you see a disconnect
from the consumer to investors? Do you see this kind of IPO drawing in a much
needed younger generation of investors?
A: Cody Willard,
Chairman of Scutify
I
don't think there's any "need" for the younger generation of
investors to chase the stock market when it's at all-time highs and IPOs are
always risky too. I tell young investors to invest in their own lives and
careers and to slowly get started in stocks. If anything, with 0% interest
rates in their savings and checking accounts, I think a lot of young investors
have already been forced into the stock market.
Q: Investorideas.com
What
is in the pipeline for 2015 and what sectors are hot this year? Also are you seeing
any surprises? And in that light, are
you seeing IPO’s in sectors being dropped?
A: Cody Willard,
Chairman of Scutify
Wearables,
drones and robotics are going to be hot in 2015. You'll see a few IPOs from
each of those sectors. I'd also expect to see a few online IPOs in the online
sector, as Etsy and Pinterest hit the public markets this year.
Bio: Cody is the Chairman of Scutify.com and publisher of
TradingWithCody.com. He's been a TV Anchor on Fox Business and was the first
and only Wall Street correspondent for the Jay Leno Tonight Show.
